Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly. (Psalm 52:8-9)
The subject of giving money to a church is sadly one that is very difficult to talk about. This is in no small part because of evil people who use the Church as a means of personal gain (2 Peter 2:1-3, 14). Let it be clear: what God requires of us -- to be and stay right with Him -- He has already given us in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:8; Hebrews 10:1, 12-14). There is nothing required of us (John 19:30).
We give to our church for many reasons. We give because we know that this is a supreme way of thanking God for our salvation (Psalm 100:1-5; 136:1-3; 2 Corinthians 2:14-16). We give because we want to share in the fruits and blessings of seeing His kingdom expand (2 Corinthians 9:10-15). We give to express our faith that He will meet our needs (Matthew 6:24-33; Philippians 4:12-13). We give because we believe in God’s use of us in the ministry of the gospel (2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 1 Timothy 5:17). We give because we are God’s family who takes care of each other (Acts 2:45; 4:34; 11:29). We give because it is only through Him that we live day by day (Mark 12:41-44). We give so that the treasure of our hearts will rest securely with Jesus (Luke 12:33-34).
But one thing we do not do: we do not give to our church because we are required to (Acts 8:18-20)!
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. (Psalm 54:6)
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
As a normal part of our Sunday worship service we collect the offerings of those wishing to give. (1 Corinthians 16:1). (NOTE: We don't pass a plate. There are two baskets on pedestles on the side, as you enter the worship area). Yet we recognize that sometimes a person may want to make a gift to God through our church in a different manner. There are two other ways you can do so:
- If you wish, you may send a check directly to the church office: The Church at Chantilly, Attn: Diaconate, 9299 Vaughn Rd, Pike Road AL 36064
As gifts to our church are tax-deductible, you may want to keep receipts for tax purposes. At the end of the year, our deacons will make sure you receive a complete statement for any giving you made.
